In my case, I finally got all my data back but it cost me money for the SW and caddy, as well as lots of time and stress. I really like WD drives, but these external My Book products can mean that you either lose all your data when that PDB board fa ils, or that you have to pay someone to restore/recover your data. I had almost 3TBs of critical data that would have been lost except that I finally found a program that was able to recover the "lost" partition of the drive and I had to buy an external drive caddy once I removed the drive from the My Book enclosure to be able to slowly recover my data and transfer it to another drive. PLEASE be aware that the data that is written to this disk drive is encrypted!!!! I have used these products for years and it wasn't until I had a recent failure that I discovered that the data can not be read normally on the drive due to the encryption done by a PDB board that acts as the interface to power and the USB port. This device encrypts your data on to the drive, you may well lose it!!!!!
